• Alfuzosin is used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign enlargement of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). Benign enlargement of the prostate is a problem that can occur in men as they get older. The prostate gland is located below the bladder. As the prostate gland enlarges, certain muscles in the gland may become tight and get in the way of the tube that drains urine from the bladder.
• This can cause problems in urinating, such as a need to urinate often, a weak stream when urinating, or a feeling of not being able to empty the bladder completely. Alfuzosin helps relax the muscles in the prostate and the opening of the bladder. This may help increase the flow of urine and/or decrease the symptoms.

• Alfuzosin is a quinazoline-derivative which exhibits selectivity for α1-adrenergic receptors in the lower urinary tract. Blockade of these adrenoreceptors causes relaxation of smooth muscle in the bladder neck and prostate, resulting in improvement in urine flow and a reduction in symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

• It blocks the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate and reduces the need for surgery.

• Veltride containing the active ingredient dutasteride belongs to a class of medications called 5 alpha reductase inhibitors
• The medication works by preventing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to prevent benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
• The tablets can help treat conditions such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream and the need to urinate frequently or urgently

It is used in men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, which include difficulty urinating, painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency. It is used to treat kidney stones.

Silofast (Silodosin) is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). and to relieve symptoms during urination like hesitancy, incomplete emptying, weak stream, increased urgency and frequency, and increased urination in the night.

Silodosin belongs to a class of medications called as selective alpha-1 receptor blockers. It blocks the alpha-1 receptors located in the muscles of human prostate, urinary bladder and urethra and relaxes these muscles, resulting in an improvement in urine flow and a reduction in BPH symptoms.

Avodart in the form of Duprost Capsules a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate to:
1) Improve symptoms
2) Reduce the risk of acute urinary retention, and
3) Reduce the risk of the need for BPH-related surgery.
Duprost Capsules in combination with the alpha adrenergic antagonist, , is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic BPH in men with an enlarged prostate.

The recommended dosage for Duprost Monotherapy is 0.5 mg once daily. In Combination with : 0.5 mg once daily and 0.4 mg once daily. The capsules have to be swallowed whole. Capsules may be taken with or without food.

Dutasteride lowers prostate growth by lowering levels. It may lower the size of the prostate and help lower the signs. It helps hair regrowth and slows hair loss.

Uses:

Alfusin  (Alfuzosin HCL) is an alpha adrenergic blocker prescribed for men suffering from an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and difficulty urination. It works by relaxing the bladder and prostate muscles easing urination.

Side Effects:

The most common Alfuzosin side effects occurring in 2% or more of the patients undergoing treatment with this medication are Dizziness, Upper respiratory tract infection, Headache and Fatigue. The other Alfusin side effects, reported by between 1% and 2% of patients receiving alfuzosin hydrochloride and occurring more frequently than with placebo are listed alphabetically by body system and by decreasing frequency within body system:
