What is a Georgia State Rep.?
Georgia state representatives research suggested changes to state laws. This includes modifications to existing laws, as well as new initiatives. The majority of a state representative's time is spent on passing bills into law. Representatives meet, debate and then vote on whether a bill should become law. Part of the debate process involves listening to arguments from other representatives. These arguments may support or attack the bill, depending on how each representative believes it would affect the people he represents. Representatives may speak for the opinions and perspectives of business leaders, everyday constituents or lobbyists.
