Flavour Bombs hit Southampton
I'm having a love affair - and it's with food again! Don't worry, Dann knows all about it. And now I'm going to share with you guys too.
I'm all about new and unique foods, and to be honest, Southampton has really upped it's foodie game in the last month with the new addition of Watermark (I'm just going to keep calling it that, even though it's not really the developments name anymore, but I just do not care). There's new restaurants popping up left, right and centre, from massive chains, to smaller independents, and the smallest of them all goes to Dumpling Dumpling.
However, don't let their size fool you. Sometimes the best things come in the smallest packages, and these packages are packed with flavour and love.
Dumpling Dumpling, aka Flavour Bombs, are well, dumplings, but with a difference. The husband and wife team (super cute right) have taken the traditional Chinese dumpling and mixed it up a bit, with unique flavours including chicken garlic kiev and chocolate nutella and peanut butter fillings, to name just two of the insane flavours available.
Along with a couple of the girls (and Henry of course) we had a little lunch date* with the lovely Nat at Dumpling Dumpling and sampled some of the absolute best dumplings I've ever had. We also got a lovely surprise in making our own teriyaki tofu dumplings to take home (which Dann was incredibly happy about). They were so much fun to make, and the rippled edge is way harder to replicate than it looks.
We tried a selection of dumplings, and to be honest, they were so so good. The Xmas Factor, made with the essentials of a Christmas dinner, was probably the highlight and unexpectedly brilliant! The Hulk Smash with spinach and butternut squash was a delight, of course the Teriyaki Tofu was delicious, and the Chicken Kiev (with garlic butter) was surprisingly yummy and really different to the traditional dumpling texture.
We finished with The Indulgent - well the girls did - made of chocolate, nutella and peanut butter, paired with whipped cream and miniature smarties. It looked good (unfortunately I can't eat peanut butter, and don't like nutella) and in Alice's words "this is what a mouth orgasm tastes like" or words to that effect! So I'll assume it was really good!
Dumpling Dumpling are staying in Westquay until the 3rd March (woooo), so you have a little while left to get your fill. Afterwards they will be returning home to the Isle of Wight (yes I'm already crying inside).
Catch up with the team, and where they are at all times on the Facebook.

I don't really like Dumplings. But their flavours sounds interesting. i would love to try the Indulgent.
ReplyDeleteThis affair sounds delicious! Watching the photos it really seems like the portions are small, but I trust when you say 'don't let that fool you'. Anyways, if we stay hungry afterwards, we can always buy some more.
