TATTOOS: Review - Brighton Tattoo Convention 2015 and haul

I love Brighton. It's  a lovely place to visit and home to one of my favourite conventions.
This year I managed to attend on Friday and Saturday so here's  my round up of my two days.

Day One

I got my very first  convention tattoo by the very talented Jenna Kerr! I will post a full blog post on my new tattoo. Plus my husband was tattooed at the convention but the awesome Fabian Langes, which I will also write a post about!

I'm  not going to lie I was a little worried about sitting through it. I've  sat through many tattoos both in closed rooms and in the middle of busy studios, but this is a totally different experience. There are literally hundreds of people walking  past  having a look at your work as it's  being  done, so trying to act like it doesn't  hurt is definitely at the forefront of your mind. Plus you have to smile sweetly at anyone that catches your eye. Fortunately Friday was a quieter day as it was pre bought tickets only and I was having a good pain day, thankfully.

Before sitting down, myself and Dann had some time to have a little wander around the tattooists and traders at the convention.

We finished around 10pm so wandered off to the bar for a drink and to listen to the bands. We finished our night with a trip to Subway (because we were starving and tipsy... so it was the logical location)

LIFESTYLE: Happy Birthday Dann!

I love my husband.

Ok, I know it's  terribly cheesy, and completely soppy to announce to the internet, especially  as you would hope that I would live him, being married  and all that. But seven years, and 1.75 years of marriage  later, I know now more than ever  that I am the luckiest girl on the planet to have him as a husband.

This post was inspired by Naomi at Lovetaza - probably the most perfect blogging family ever.

Today is his birthday... yay happy birthday old man! And whilst we will be hanging out at the Brighton Tattoo Convention, I thought  I would share some of the reasons why i love him so damn much.

LIFESTYLE: Sharing my tattoo love with my husband

Today I have officially been with my lover (aka husband) for seven years. Yay us!

We met when I was 18 and I'm often asked how we met and how our relationship works so well. So here's my story and some little bits of advice on surviving a long term relationship even through the tough times.

Our story is totally not glamourous.

We did not know each other at all when we met. We were complete strangers (though we did find we had a couple of friends in common a little while later... small world, right!).

I was out for a girls night the day after Valentines Day and he was out for a lads night. We just happened to be on tables next to each other and the two groups joined after a discussion about male body hair (apparently that is normal at 18!).

Dann and I got talking because of, yep you guessed it, tattoos. Admittedly back then, I had one small tattoo on my ankle, and he had an arm piece (literally about half his bicep) and a teeny one on the back of his neck. But it started a great night of chatting and drinking.

BLOGGING: The Versatile Blogger Award

I was very kindly nominated for this award by Amy of Batwings & Lashes so thank you!
If you've  not heard of the award before, which before my nomination I hadn't, it's  about sharing some little known facts about yourself and sharing unique and different bloggers. You can find out more here!

So my seven facts:

1. I love flying. Not just the whole going  to new places, but actually travelling. I have no idea why but I love being in the air. Unfortunately  my husband is the opposite.

2. I used to be scared of dogs. I'm not any more, but it was so bad I would pretend  I was allergic so I wouldn't  have to be near them. I think it predominantly  stemmed from being bitten by two different dogs, but as I got older I got over
the fear, and am now perfectly  happy around man's best friend.

3. I am obsessed with US crime dramas. Put an episode of Bones, Criminal Minds or CSI on the box, and I'm  a happy girl. I've  always been a ran of crime fiction, you just need to look at my bookcase, where my collection started in my teens, to see my love for it.

4. But I never watch horrors. I'm  my own worst nightmare when it comes to scary movies and an over-active  imagination. I refuse point blank to watch any of the Saw films, and don't  go near anything with  psychological and paranormal story lines. Ironic right, when  I can watch Bones with decomposed bodies  in the middle  of the night.

5. I collect butterflies and moths. My collection is at 10 at the moment but is growing all the  time. I love filling my house with all the beautiful colours of their wings, and make every effort to ensure they are ethically sourced.

6. I love mashed potato and gravy. It's  my comfort food. If I'm  sad or ill or tired, it's  my go to good to cheer me up. And my husband makes the best mash on the planet.

7. I love being a wife. I love having  my husband, knowing I have someone to come home to, to make dinner with, to help me and share my problems. And being completely bound  to one another. Its my favourite thing in the world.

LIFESTYLE: January in review

I've  decided to start a little series to give you, my lovely readers a little insight into my life. So at the beginning of each month, I will do a little review of the month previous.
So I'll  start, of course, with January.

A new year, and so far not such a bad one. I can definitely say I've  had worse.
